Living cyclically! This has been my journey too the last decade or so. I also had a similar upbringing and it wasn’t until I was pregnant (researching natural family planning) and then having my own kids (3 girls!) that really ignited my desire to know my cycle intimately. I will give my girls ALL the information I was never given.
Thank you for reading, Lindsey! It’s so lovely to hear about other folks embracing this life. And that is so wonderful that you’re providing your girls this knowledge. I truly believe that more people understanding this will slowly change the world for the better.
“I intend to make the most of every cycle I have left” - beautiful. And I had the same feeling of as you, when your article informed me I’m over halfway through! Bittersweet!
I'm pregnant with my 4th, and my husband and I both appreciate how having babies slows the rollercoaster of the menstrual cycle. Looking forward to reading your publication!
Oh interesting! I’d considered pregnancy being a reprieve from monthly bleeding (a hassle for some) but I never thought about it as being a time away from the ups and downs of the menstrual cycle. Having never done it, pregnancy seems like such a rollercoaster itself! I hope yours is going smoothly. Thank you for subscribing! I’m greatly enjoying your publication as well.
Thank you for subscribing, too! Yes, pregnancy is a rollercoaster and is like the menstrual cycle, only amplified. I’m one of those women who love it ❤️ There are still the 4 parts (first, second, third, and fourth trimesters), which is kind of like if each week of the menstrual cycle took 3 months (or a whole season, if you like). And then there is the breastfeeding amenorrhea phase, which is different in length for each woman, but to me feels kind of like being a virgin going through puberty and discovering what it is to be a woman all over again.
Absolutely! When I found your substack I was so excited. It’s something I’ve been looking for without knowing I was looking for it. :D I’ve heard bits and pieces about pregnancy being akin to the menstrual cycle and it’s lovely to hear about it from someone who find joy in it.
