Hi Ema, I’m curious about analgesics delaying ovulation! A quick google shows it’s mainly ibuprofen I believe... very interested since, although I’m not trying to conceive, I am learning to track my cycles and want to avoid interrupting the process!
Hello, Rebecca! Happy to share what I’ve observed for myself. It is mainly ibuprofen. That’s generally what I have on hand so it’s what I take and it works for me. I don’t think it will interrupt the process so much, since even after taking one or two ibuprofen during menstruation I still ovulate. But instead of ovulating around day 11 or 12, as I usually do, I end up ovulating around day 15. And my cervical mucus seems to be a less prominent as well. So I just have to keep a more careful eye out for mucus and then the temp rise comes a bit later. But that’s me! Vaccines affect my cycle similarly, though I don’t know if the mechanism is the same or if sickness would do that too (haven’t been sick in a while). I am conscious of my fertility but sometimes a bit of pharmacological pain relief is needed to get by.
Always wonderful to chat with someone learning to track their cycles! Best wishes to you!
Fascinating, I will keep an eye on my cervical mucus as well… I am about to go see a homeopath next week and was planning to discuss homeopathic pain relief for pre-menstrual headaches, which will likely have no side-effects- maybe I could do a little self-study/comparison!
Oh, and I love connecting with people tracking their cycles as well… yesterday I was at my kids circus class, and was (kind of energetically) helping untangle my boy from another’s in the aerial silks, when the other mum said “thanks I don’t have the energy for that” and I replied “I get it, I’m usually that, 90% of the time!”
Oh interesting! Yes! That’s one of the things I love about FAM and cycle awareness—making all that sweet sweet data for about yourself, for yourself. :D
What a lovely reminder to listen to the rhythms of our body and let them guide us into deeper meanings of the season. ❄️💙
Thank you, Kimberly!
